About Me

My Photo
A homeschooling mother of one teenager and a little. In 2001, I resigned from my 13 year position as a case manager to homeschool my oldest who was a preschooler at the time, and later a daughter who came along in 2005. This is by far the hardest job I've ever loved. My husband of nearly 20 years supports us as a fire fighter and EMT.

Irene Kicking Up Her Heels

We are beginning to feel Irene's winds and rain. Our neighbor brought us over some figs from his tree before they flew off in the hurricane, and I picked some squash before they drown in the flood which is sure to happen in my backyard. Tomorrow morning it will have passed. Praying for only light flooding in our area. Phone service just went down. Electricity will be next, but we've got a small generator. Stay safe everyone.

Update: The hurricane was not as bad as we thought in our area. We got power restored quickly! We lost it on Saturday, and it came back early this morning(Monday). I'm so grateful that it wasn't like hurricane Isabel where we lost power for three weeks! The power company has updated their system, and it's greatly improved. Thanks be to God; we are all safe and happy this morning. Prayers offered up for all those still without power and struggling with storm damage.

I'm glad that you are ok and that it wasn't bad where you are.
