About Me

My Photo
A homeschooling mother of one teenager and a little. In 2001, I resigned from my 13 year position as a case manager to homeschool my oldest who was a preschooler at the time, and later a daughter who came along in 2005. This is by far the hardest job I've ever loved. My husband of nearly 20 years supports us as a fire fighter and EMT.

Relief and Reflection

The Vatican said the killing of al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden, a man who sowed division and hatred and who caused "innumerable" deaths, should prompt serious reflection about one's responsibility before God, not rejoicing.

"Osama bin Laden, as we all know, bore the most serious responsibility for spreading divisions and hatred among populations, causing the deaths of innumerable people, and manipulating religions to this end," Father Lombardi said.

"In the face of a man's death, a Christian never rejoices, but reflects on the serious responsibilities of each person before God and before men, and hopes and works so that every event may be the occasion for the further growth of peace and not of hatred," the spokesman said. ~ CNS

He faces judgment for choosing evil as a man, not as an unknowing animal. May God have mercy on his soul.

My friend Elizabeth shares:

"Please pray for our safety, but also we must try our best to live our lives in such a way that we are worthy of the Lord's protection. We must be vigilant - watchful of our enemies, but also careful in how we live. In this way, we honor the fallen. By this, their sacrifice is not in vain."

I am in complete agreement. It is a time for reflection and remembrance, not gross celebration. It seemed as those jubilant celebraters were mostly young adults. I believe as we get older, we more fully understand the impact something like this could have. I wish this had not occurred on Divine Mercy Sunday. I pray for all souls involved.

Something to ponder, for sure.
