There is a 10% off sale on Rod & Staff curriculum until 4/15/11 at Milestone Ministries. We've been ordering books from them for years. They are fast, accurate, and friendly. They've also got Pathway Readers, Schoolaid Health & Math, Climbing to Good English, and Apologia Science. Only the Rod & Staff curriculum are on sale.
I just finished ordering my son's Rod & Staff eighth grade books tonight. It's hard to believe how fast time has gone! I remember ordering Rod & Staff's cute learning to read program for him like it was yesterday. I had about 25% of his curriculum on hand from earlier ebay purchases, so that helped a little with the final price. Used copies for the higher grade curricula are bit more difficult to find.
We are required to test(or a portfolio) math and English at the end of the year, so I also had to shell out $25.00 for a CAT test. Thankfully, my Kindergarten daughter is exempt from testing this year. Beginning next year it will be $50.00 a year for testing, $25.00 for each child.
We are set for the next school year. I'm ready for spring break! ;)

Hooray!! :)
I see you have an 8th Grader. My son will be in 8th Grade next year. I will be homeschooling him using the Utah Virtual Academy - public school via the Internet at home. He is sick a lot and misses so much school that I hope this plan works better for him.
We also are still using R&S for 8th grade next year, all except Math.
Do you use the full curriculum? If so do you add on other resources?
Elizabeth,
I am sorry your son has been so sick. Prayers for his condition - diabetes, right?
Bonnie,
We pretty much use R&S as a full curriculum. We'll be switching to Apologia for science in 10th grade, and be using CLE as curriculum where Rod & Staff drops off.
We supplement with quality non-fiction books and classic literature. I've also used vintage lessons from public domain sources and free printables from places like Lit2Go(sidebar).
This year we are skipping part(later half) of the 7th grade Rod & Staff history, where it gets into doctrine, in favor of readings from An Island Story.
My other blog(http://freehomeschoolinglibrar.blogspot.com/) has listings of free resources for homeschool, all in public domain. We've been using these fairly regularly along with free internet resources - encyclopedia, art prints, historical sites, Wikipedia, etc.
Mostly I try to enhance what he is already learning in Rod & Staff.
We've also used Schoolaid Health - charming, wholesome, and full of practical information.
I want to thank you for all the resources that you have searched out..lots of time involved there!
We actually follow some of the Ambleside reading and then supplement R&S w/public domain goodies also. Just finishing up Schoolaid Health; we really enjoyed it:)
You are very welcome. I'm so grateful for so many free resources online. Ambleside is a real treasure.
Yep, this combo. really has worked for us too. I'm hoping my daughter will take to them.
