About Me

My Photo
A homeschooling mother of one teenager and a little. In 2001, I resigned from my 13 year position as a case manager to homeschool my oldest who was a preschooler at the time, and later a daughter who came along in 2005. This is by far the hardest job I've ever loved. My husband of nearly 20 years supports us as a fire fighter and EMT.

Thrift Store Finds

I found some learning toys at a local thrift store that were perfect for homeschool Pre-K through K. We got multi-colored wooden shapes(patterns and building), vintage wooden puzzles, a peg board game, and a Fisher Price Little People slide and swing for imaginary play. My daughter spent a happy afternoon playing with these. We already had  wooden pattern shapes and blocks, but she always finds new ways to use them. We've got a good collection now.

Also found:

Floral cloth napkins
Duvet cover
Like new quality bed sheets and pillow cases
Mexican serape
Vintage Everlast hammered aluminum fruit bowl
Cashmere Geoffrey Beene winter scarf
Several homemade cloth gift bags in assorted sizes
United States history trivia game for my son

Total spent: $13.00

What great finds!! I haven't gone thrifting in ages...but since everyone I know is currently purging their homes and sending boxes of stuff to the Goodwill...I'm thinking I should head over and see what I find :)

Wow, you hit the jackpot Alexandra! I love it when I find good useful stuff like that.

I haven't used the $5.00 DG coupons yet, but they are giving them out generously, aren't they? I should go this Saturday and stock up on the things I regularly buy there.

I was tickled that you recognized the fabric in the runner! I am going to make myself some napkins to go with it. I'm really on a fruity, green color tear right now.

Thanks, Debbie J.
