We still need winter coats for both children, but I am holding out for a good thrift deal. I may try ebay and Freecycle(slim chance).
About Me

- A homeschooling mother of one teenager and a little. In 2001, I resigned from my 13 year position as a case manager to homeschool my oldest who was a preschooler at the time, and later a daughter who came along in 2005. This is by far the hardest job I've ever loved. My husband of nearly 20 years supports us as a fire fighter and EMT.

Thrift Store Finds
Today was the first cool day of Autumn, and I had to switch the children's clothing out for long sleeves, pants, and tights. I had run a little short on clothing for my son, so my daughter and I spent the afternoon searching for boy shirts. At a second thrift I found a few, and some night clothes for both kiddos. Prices were good, under $2.00 each.
Along the way we found a wonderful homemade dollhouse. I had planned to build one, but this one was already done! It was $5.00, so we took it home. Also found - an extra large sturdy wicker basket for blocks($4.00), and two small brass bells(an angel and a star) which my daughter picked out for .75 cents.
We still need winter coats for both children, but I am holding out for a good thrift deal. I may try ebay and Freecycle(slim chance).

Great finds!! I love the basket...I can't get enough baskets, I'm always wishing I had just one more... :)
Me too. I have my eye on a giant lidded basket at Ten Thousand Villages(Free Trade) online.
i love the dollhouse and all your other finds. I share your enthusiasm about thrifting. It is remarkable what people give away to thrift stores. I can't tell you how many wonderful things I've found over the years at my favorite stores.
I love a bargain. I've gone to yard sales for years and have found such wonderful deals. I've recently started thrift store shopping, too, and it is fun browsing and finding a treasure. Last week it was 1 pair of pants and 2 nice shirts for the winter, about $10.00 for all. A little pricier than yard sales, but in the fall/winter a good alternative.
Some nice finds! I like the thrifts for their convenience - all in one place and good hours. :)
