About Me

My Photo
A homeschooling mother of one teenager and a little. In 2001, I resigned from my 13 year position as a case manager to homeschool my oldest who was a preschooler at the time, and later a daughter who came along in 2005. This is by far the hardest job I've ever loved. My husband of nearly 20 years supports us as a fire fighter and EMT.

Hunting and Gathering: Big Lot Deals

My pantry was running low, so I headed to Big Lots for some food deals. Unfortunately, they did not have the huge cans of diced tomatoes(sometimes organic) for $1.00 that I usually buy there. I did find some other deals:

-Nutrisystem lunches for $1.00 each(me - still losing!)
-Annie's organic macaroni and cheese $1.20 box(my daughter's favorite)
-St. Dalfour Organic tea $2.00 each - Darjeeling, Earl Grey, and Ceylon(a treat for me)
-*Hormel Compleats meals $1.50 each($2.00 at Family Dollar)
-Various soups for 45 cents each
-14.5 ounce cans of diced tomatoes .50 cents each
-34.5 ounces of coffee $5.00 each
-Sun brand liquid detergent, 112 loads for $5.75 a bottle (.05 cents a load)

*Sometimes my husband cannot get to a kitchen because he is on the road, so those Hormel Compleats meals are great. There is no need to refrigerate them, and he eats them cold upon opening. It's much less expensive than a restaurant or fast food.

I didn't find as much this time around. Hopefully, they'll have more later in the fall. The prices were a bit higher than usual, although I was glad to find a few things for the pantry.

Thanks for the head's up. I'm going to go check the one close to me for some of the tea. We go through a lot here!
