About Me

My Photo
A homeschooling mother of one teenager and a little. In 2001, I resigned from my 13 year position as a case manager to homeschool my oldest who was a preschooler at the time, and later a daughter who came along in 2005. This is by far the hardest job I've ever loved. My husband of nearly 20 years supports us as a fire fighter and EMT.

Diet Progress

I fell away for the diet and exercise for a while, but I'm back to my plan. I'm using the free Calorie Count program. I downloaded the tool bar which monitors my calories via an Eat Meter. At first it's tedious to look up all the calories and portion sizes, but then you begin to remember how many calories are in your usual foods. It has also helped me make low calorie substitutions in my normal recipes, so that I can stretch my calories throughout the day.

I lost weight with exercise on 1500 calories a day, but 1200 would be better. It's just too difficult for me to keep going with only 1200 calories with all that I do with the children. It's slow going, but all I can do is keep trying.

It's a process and it doesn't have to be fast. It's actually better if it's not too fast. Good luck!

I saw this lady last month on PBS.

She suggests switching the salad plate with the dinner plate. Or pasta bowl for salad. It made sense.

I'll keep you posted...
