About Me

My Photo
A homeschooling mother of one teenager and a little. In 2001, I resigned from my 13 year position as a case manager to homeschool my oldest who was a preschooler at the time, and later a daughter who came along in 2005. This is by far the hardest job I've ever loved. My husband of nearly 20 years supports us as a fire fighter and EMT.

Frugal Verna Leaves Behind $4.5M

"This is an incredible story," she said. "You will never meet another Verna. She really was one of a kind, and the best thing about her is she was totally happy."
She said Oller, who was childless, was humble and never sought public recognition, shocking townspeople when they learned about her bequest.
"I call her the original dream lady. She grew her own vegetables and was organic before the word 'organic.' She recycled everything." Read more here.

She totally reminded me of my Gram (who is still alive), and I don't know if my Gram has 4.5 million or not, but I wouldn't be surprised.
Had to laugh at the finding of the new shoe laces...too cute!
Thank you, Verna, for being an example of true debt-free/legacy-leaving living!
I was inspired, thanks for posting this Alexandra!

Wow. I read this article and was fascinated. What a lady! I am frugal but not quite that frugal at this point.

Cheers!
