About Me

My Photo
A homeschooling mother of one teenager and a little. In 2001, I resigned from my 13 year position as a case manager to homeschool my oldest who was a preschooler at the time, and later a daughter who came along in 2005. This is by far the hardest job I've ever loved. My husband of nearly 20 years supports us as a fire fighter and EMT.

Free and Natural Garden Fertilizer

Used coffee grounds help fertilize the garden and keep away slugs. We get large bags of free used grounds from Starbucks. Just ask if they have any behind the counter.

I've been looking for a use for my used coffee grounds - thanks so much for this post :)

I think you just convinced this Mormon girl to walk into Starbucks for the first time in years! (Their caramel apple cider was a favorite yearly treat when I was in high school, or steamed milk with syrup...but I don't think I've been back since :) We have a horrible slug problem here- do you have banana slugs?

Thanks for your comments. :)

Myrnie- Yes! We got some huge ones. I also use Sluggo, organic slug granules which work nicely. I ordered it online, but I think more retail stores are carrying this now.
