About Me

My Photo
A homeschooling mother of one teenager and a little. In 2001, I resigned from my 13 year position as a case manager to homeschool my oldest who was a preschooler at the time, and later a daughter who came along in 2005. This is by far the hardest job I've ever loved. My husband of nearly 20 years supports us as a fire fighter and EMT.

Saving Money on Curriculum

It's that time again...curriculum shopping. Many stores are now offering spring discounts for curricula. I do my shopping, or at least most of it, at ebay. Little by little I collect what I need as it becomes available. We use Rod & Staff curriculum, and I use the order form(or catalog), kept handy next to my computer, to mark off items I've won and received via ebay. I usually buy at least two years ahead. This has saved us over 50% on curriculum(shipping costs included) and has been tax free, a 5 percent savings.

Ebay offers cash back(Ebay Bucks), and clicking through BigCrumbs.com also earns you cash back, 36% of the seller's costs.  It's not a lot, but every little bit helps.

Thanks for the links and tips! It's starting to sink in that I need to be looking a few years down the road!

It takes me this long, two years, to gather all that I need at a discount. I just keep chipping away at it until I've got everything. Things eventually surface on ebay or other second places. It does take a bit of planning.
