About Me

My Photo
A homeschooling mother of one teenager and a little. In 2001, I resigned from my 13 year position as a case manager to homeschool my oldest who was a preschooler at the time, and later a daughter who came along in 2005. This is by far the hardest job I've ever loved. My husband of nearly 20 years supports us as a fire fighter and EMT.

Weight Loss Progess

We've been fighting off colds lately, so I've not been working out as much. I don't want to run myself down for fear of getting Swine Flu. This inactivity means that I've gained weight It's just not fair. I eat like a normal person, actually better than average, and I still gain weight. These past two weeks week I indulged in ice cream once, Chinese food once, and a few pieces of pizza, and I gained four pounds!

This week I'm back to working out on the treadmill and eating salads. Apparently, my over-forty body will not allow me to enjoy regular food. I must never eat desserts, never have pizza, never enjoy a little Chinese fried rice. I can only eat a very small breakfast, salad for lunch, and a tiny portion for dinner with little or no starchy carbs such as rice or mashed potatoes. Oh, and certain fruits make me gain. I can't eat bananas anymore, just an apple, or a tiny fruit salad consisting of a melon mix.

Okay, I am done whining.

:o( I've heard others "complain" of this- smelling cake makes her lose weight, etc. Kind of funny to think about, but frustrating, I know.

Alexandra,

Don't be so hard on youself! Don't DENY yourself, just moderate amounts of anything is probably a better bet.

You and I could be twins.

I actually don't eat all that much either. And these hormones! Who knew the 40s was going to be temperature challenged?

I myself, should stay away from adding sugar to my coffee and my weakness for those warm loafs of bread with butter.

But, my dh and I came to the conclusion, the only way I'm going to lose or maintain wieght will be through moderate exercise. Little bit everyday. Light weights, multiple reps, and lots of gentle cardio like walking or swimming or low impact aerobics.

I have to have fun while doing any exercise or it is going to be taking a "horse pill" of exercise. Who wants that?

Baahhhhh, moderate amounts! What's that?! LOL. I need micro amounts to loose weight. Just feeling sorry for myself...I'll feel better later. :)

Try wearing wearable weights like “Body Togs” weighted sleeves worn on your arms & legs under your clothes while you go about your day. They increase calorie burn, muscle tone & bone density. Weighted vests work great too! Go to: http://www.WomensPersonalFitness.net
