I picked up four books at the library this past week:
The Centurion's Wife (Acts of Faith, Book 1)
Cold Sassy Tree
The Motley Fool Million Dollar Portfolio: How to Build and Grow a Panic-Proof Investment Portfolio
Uneasy Lies the Head
I'm about half way through Uneasy Lies the Head(Henry VII) by Jean Plaidy, one of my favorite historical authors, and just began The Motley Fool book. It's been a while since I've read a book on investments, so I thought I'd get a refresher. My husband and I have had mutual funds funds since our early 20's, and some DRIP stocks, but I think investing is interesting. So far it's very clear, direct, and readable. I'm in the second chapter, and already I've learned how to logically and systematically pick a stock in a series of steps, without speculating. It's a bit of a marketing device for their website, but still solid information for a beginning investor, or an investor who wishes to build their portfolio beyond CDs and money market accounts. There is a Motley Fool book for the over 40 crowd: The Motley Fool's Money After 40: Building Wealth for a Better Life

We'll have to look for The Centurians Wife -my Abby and I read Janet Oke but that's a series we haven't read yet. I hope our little library has it. :)
I'm looking forward to your post on Roan Inish. The title, "Uneasy Lies the Head" is enough to make someone want to read the book. I've never heard of any of these. I'll have to keep an eye out for them.
They look all good but I think the one I would prefer to read it's The Centurion's Wife.
