I've been stalling in my weight loss despite keeping to my diet. It's rather frustrating, but I'll keep plugging away at it. I've actually gained and lost two pounds for the past two weeks. Right now I'm up two, but it should come off again. I just can't seem to get past the seven pound weight loss mark. One thing that I'll be quitting is the Atkins bars. I googled them, and
some people think that they stalled weight loss. I also might want to cut back on cheese despite the fact that they are low in carbs. For whatever reason, some people can't lose on the Atkins diet with a lot of cheese intake.
I got my thyroid levels checked last week, and I'm waiting for the results. I may need a little increase with my Synthyroid. I don't have a functioning thyroid, so I take medication. The 'ole thyroid blew out after the birth of my last child - a diagnosis of postpartum thyroiditis which morphed into Hashimoto's disease. If the thyroid levels are low then I know what's causing the slow metabolism. It's an annoying condition, but on the other hand, if we ever had a famine, I'd probably last a loooong time with my slow-mo metabolism. I'd be the last person to get thin, and need a lot less food to survive. Somehow that's not so comforting here in the land of plenty where we are dying from too much!

I know exactly how you feel. My metabolism is also very slow but mine is from years of skipping meals and not getting enough exercise. But like you, I plan to continue "plugging" away at it. I refuse to give up. Have a nice day.
Blessings,
Elizabeth
I'm sorry that your weight loss has met an obstacle. I hope you can resolve it soon - figure out if it is your thyroid that is causing the slow down. Another thought, which comes from my hubby, the fitness expert, to get past a "plateau" increase the intensity of your exercise. Ramp it up. If that doesn't help, you probably are looking at a bio-chemical problem.
I'm trying to lose weight, too, and it is very heavy going (pardon the pun!) :)
You poor thing.
I hope you make some progress.
Well, seven pounts isn't shabby.
I gained two pounds in my half-hearted six weeks at WW.
I figured out, for me the only real weight loss is excercising at minimum four days a week and not mindless eating/snaking. (Chasing after kids and housekeeping doesn't count for me!)
You have more to consider than most of us with your Thyroid. Please keep posting about this.
Will pray for you, I know losing weight is hard.
Have you ever tried green tea? I drink it iced and it really cuts my appetite.
Thanks for your support. :)
Denese,
I drink a lot of tea, but I have been thinking about trying oolong tea which is a dieter's tea. I saw it on Amazoncom. Green tea is good, but it doesn't seem to have the same effect on me.
