About Me

My Photo
A homeschooling mother of one teenager and a little. In 2001, I resigned from my 13 year position as a case manager to homeschool my oldest who was a preschooler at the time, and later a daughter who came along in 2005. This is by far the hardest job I've ever loved. My husband of nearly 20 years supports us as a fire fighter and EMT.

Aluminum Can Garden Markers

HT to Making Do with the Not So New

Update: a reader brought up a good point about these - they could be a hazard in the garden or in a pot because they are sharp. I'm not sure how you'd get around this - a metal file or Dremel perhaps? So maybe this is not the safest idea for recycling and reusing, but if you can find a way to dull the edges, a great idea!

This crafter makes punched tin butterflies and mentions that aluminum pie plates can be used, a much safer alternative. You can bend back or scrunch the edges of aluminum pie plates quite easily with some needle nose pliers.

As was my comment on the posters blog, I cringe to think of critters (or people) slicing themselves on these as they pass by! But I do appreciate the *thot* about re-using stuff!

At first I thought that I'd try this, but on second thought I will probably split myself open and kill myself.

It sure is a neat idea, though, huh?
