I used an earlier 1970's edition to learn, but really I learned more by watching and remembering how my hair dresser cut hair. I use to watch them cut my son's and husband's hair and then try to duplicate it at home. After a while, you get it down. We've saved quite a bit of money not paying for hair cuts. One thing that helped me was to browse celebrity pictures to analyze their cuts. I was able to incorporate a George Clooney look for my husband who had a hairline much like Clooney's.
