About Me

My Photo
A homeschooling mother of one teenager and a little. In 2001, I resigned from my 13 year position as a case manager to homeschool my oldest who was a preschooler at the time, and later a daughter who came along in 2005. This is by far the hardest job I've ever loved. My husband of nearly 20 years supports us as a fire fighter and EMT.

Thrift Store Finds: Plant Supplies and Children's Clothes

Our thrift stores are shutting down around here. We lost Salvation Army last year. Goodwill moved to a more expensive location and their prices reflect this. We do have one thrift store which is a for-profit, and still has great prices. I try to shop the non-profit thrifts because I usually have a donation. Today I was ready to find better prices and inventory.

I got a good number of tops, sweaters, dresses, and shorts for my daughter at .99 cents each. I also found some supplies for my moss and weed projects. They were all marked down to .99 cents and less. I should have gotten more of those handmade terracotta trays and the aged pots. These work well paired together. I saw a taller glass container with a cork stopper, but it was priced at $2.99. If the price comes down, I might try it as a tall terrarium project with one of the white summer bulbs.

The summer bulbs and seeds are from Family Dollar. Also, they have marked down their fake Crocs. I was able to get some pastel colored ones for my daughter at $1.99 a pair. These are wonderful gardening shoes which just need hosing off after you are done.

I'm preparing myself to do a bit of gardening too.

Why are the thrift stores closing??? One would think they'd be doing smash up business right now, with the economic slow down and everyone penny-pinching. I sure shop at thrifts a lot.

I love your finds!
