About Me

My Photo
A homeschooling mother of one teenager and a little. In 2001, I resigned from my 13 year position as a case manager to homeschool my oldest who was a preschooler at the time, and later a daughter who came along in 2005. This is by far the hardest job I've ever loved. My husband of nearly 20 years supports us as a fire fighter and EMT.

Homemade Doggy Meatloaf

I was hoping to get some gardening done today, but it has been raining. Instead I've been food shopping and cooking. Today I tried making something for the pooch, doggy meatloaf.

It came out well, and I'll store this in the frig for the rest of this week's dinner for the doggy. He gets inexpensive dry food for breakfast, and homemade dog food for dinner. This keeps him healthy and without intestinal problems, and a good compromise for our budget as well.

I loosely followed this recipe from RecipeZaar with some canned meat instead of the hamburger, potato flakes instead of whole potatoes, and I used frozen peas and carrots. I also added a little brewer's yeast for flea and tick control. I stuck all my ingredients in the blender before pouring it into the loaf dish.

Nest week I'll be making doggy biscuits(easy!) and homemade cat food, as an extra treat.

No, but I'll look for one. I'd like to get the cat on some healthier food.

My mom spend all day yesterday making it for the dog. She made enough for two loaves. One she froze one loaf for another day.

Brandy loved it! TY so much.

You are welcome! We are on our third loaf...it seems to last almost a week if I give him two slices a night. Ours come out more like pate because I eyeball the ingredients, adding more wet ingredients than dry. I think my doggy likes it better this way.

We have spoiled dogs. :)
